Dr Nicholas Pascoe

My Background

I trained in medicine then specialised in psychiatry in New Zealand, and have worked in a variety of adult psychiatry positions in large and small centres throughout the country, and with hospital inpatients and outpatients, both in public and private settings.  I enjoy working with a wide variety of patients, including patients with mood and anxiety disorders, complex trauma, and adult ADHD.

My approach

I prefer to take a cooperative approach in my work with patients, in order that both they and I can together develop an understanding of the nature of their mental health difficulties, how they got to be where they are today, and with that in mind, how best to move forward with treatment.  Whilst I routinely work with medications, sometimes this is only part of the solution for people – I have also enjoyed working in collaboration with psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors and other professionals to assist people to move forward in their treatment.

Patient Profile

I am a specialist general adult psychiatrist – I see patients who are in their middle years – from their late teens up to about retirement age – and I am comfortable working with the mental health difficulties which people in this age range might generally encounter.
